Phoenix Nights
An English television sitcom starring Peter Kay about a working men's club in the northern city of Farnworth, Greater Manchester centers around the Phoenix Club. It was written by Neil Fitzmaurice, Peter Kay, and Dave Spikey, produced by Goodnight Vienna Productions and Ovation Entertainments, and shown on the UK's Channel 4 in 2007. It was composed by Toni Baker and Peter Kay. Paddy McGuinness contributed more material to the project. First broadcast in 2001 and 2002, the two series have since been re-released. From That Peter Kay Thing came the spin-off Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere, which in turn inspired The Peter Kay Thing. It was nominated for a number of awards, including the British Comedy Awards' People's Choice Award. Actor Kay, who also serves as showrunner for both series, stars in several roles. In September2006, Kay confirmed on BBC Radio 1 that a third series of Phoenix Nights had been written, but it is not yet known when the series will be shot. In a statement released on May 8th, 2007 by Kay, she promised that a new series would be produced. However, in late-2009 interviews with The Sentinel and the Croydon Guardian, Dave Spikey claimed that neither he nor his co-writer Neil Fitzmaurice were aware of any intentions to bring the programme back..
